Super Stand-up Saturday in Collaboration with New Orleans School of Comedy Arts

Louisiana’s longest-running comedy marathon returns to the Lafon Arts Center for our Fall Comedy Showcase, transforming our Black Box Theatre into a high-energy comedy club for one unforgettable night.
After last year’s sold-out performance, this fast-paced showcase features an outstanding lineup of comedians from South Louisiana and beyond, delivering a variety of comedic styles and perspectives guaranteed to keep the laughs coming all evening long.

Classical Christmas: Messiah in Collaboration with LPO

The Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra rings in the holiday season with stunning selections from Handel’s Messiah and beloved classical Christmas music. Experience the power and beauty of this timeless masterpiece, featuring the iconic “Hallelujah” chorus, performed by the region’s finest musicians. A cherished holiday tradition, this concert is the perfect way to celebrate the season with the splendor of orchestral and choral music.

The Nutcracker Presented in Collaboration with Ballet Images
Dec 12 - Dec 13
Giant mice, dancing snowflakes, a growing Christmas tree, and an enchanted nutcracker are sure to delight the inner child in everyone. Ballet Images’ combination of amazing dancers, gorgeous sets and costumes and Tchaikovsky’s timeless music makes this one of the greatest holiday shows! Come experience this beautiful ballet that truly portrays the magic of the season.
Public Performance will take place Saturday, Dec. 12 at 7:00pm and Sunday, Dec. 13 at 3:00pm.

Sugar Plum Party Presented in Collaboration with Ballet Images
Saturday, December 12
This will be an abbreviated one hour performance of The Nutcracker. The performance will be followed by a “Sugar Plum Party”. The audience members will be invited to join the Sugar Plum Fairy onstage and experience “The Kingdom of the Sweets” for themselves. They can meet and talk to their favorite characters, experience what it is like to be on the stage under the glowing lights, and take pictures.

Laugh your way into spring with the Spring Comedy Showcase, the second installment of the Lafon Arts Center’s 2026–27 comedy series. Our Black Box Theatre once again transforms into a high-energy comedy club for an evening of outstanding stand-up from talented comedians representing South Louisiana and beyond.
Featuring a fast-paced lineup of performers and a variety of comedic styles and perspectives, the Spring Comedy Showcase delivers another unforgettable night of live comedy that audiences won’t want to miss.
