Lafon Arts Center’s Family Series

Our Family Series invites your whole family to open up their imaginations and get lost in the world we create together! With performances designed to educate, entertain, and inspire, these over-the-top productions in dance, music, and theatre are sure to delight audiences of all ages! Each performance is about one-hour and generally performed without an intermission. We invite artists from around the corner to around the globe for our families to enjoy.  You won’t see anything like this anywhere else!

Mutts Gone Nuts

Imagine five of the world’s most talented 4-legged performers in an uproariously funny,comedy dog spectacular that is leaving audiences everywhere howling for more! The all-star lineup includes the highest jumping dog in the universe, a hilarious six pound Pomeranian Pikachu mix, and a host of previously discarded dogs that will dance, prance, flip, and skip their way right into your heart. Deemed “A must see!” by the Washington Post, Mutts Gone Nuts is sure to win Best in Show!

Halloween Spooktacular

The Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by David Torns, will set the tone for Halloween with a selection of eerie musical pieces including John Williams’ Double Trouble. Audiences are encouraged to show off their Halloween costumes.

Lightwire Theatre’s Very Electric Christmas

Saturday, December 2, 2023 @ 3 PM & 7 PM

Follow the story of a young bird, named Max and his family, as they begin their journey south for the winter. When Max gets blown off course and ends up at the North Pole…his adventure begins! Dancing toy soldiers, caroling worms, and performing poinsettias light up the stage in Lightwire Theater’s A Very Electric Christmas.

River Region Ballet, Inc. The Nutcracker Sugar Plum Party

This will be an abbreviated one hour performance of The Nutcracker. The performance will be followed by a “Sugar Plum Party”. The audience members will be invited to join the Sugar Plum Fairy onstage and experience “The Kingdom of the Sweets” for themselves. They can meet and talk to their favorite characters, experience what it is like to be on the stage under the glowing lights, and take pictures. Each young audience member will be given a special gift to remember their Nutcracker performance.

Alice Dreaming of Wonderland

Get ready to experience an amazing journey in the crazy world of Wonderland! Based on the classic by Lewis Carroll, “Alice” is an action-packed theatrical circus full of surprises, amazing acts, video projection with 3-D mapping and live music. Alice’s adventures are a manifesto to fantasy and free spirit, as well as a profound philosophy towards respecting all opinions, including those that may be different from your own.

Cat Kid Comic Club: The Musical

Cat Kid and Molly Pollywog have started an epic club to teach 21 rambunctious baby frogs how to make their own comics! Their fishy father Flippy is overjoyed that his kids will learn to unleash their creativity, but when the frogs’ constant bickering and outrageous imaginations send their comics comically off the rails, Flippy flips out! Will the club survive? Will the frogs ever get along? And will creativity finally save the day? All will be answered in this madcap musical based on Dav Pilkey’s irreverently hilarious book series.

This hilarious musical adaptation of Dav Pilkey’s Dog Man spin-off series, Cat Kid Comic Club, is written by Kevin Del Aguila and Brad Alexander – the team that brought you DOG MAN: THE MUSICAL!
