Music (Instrumental & Vocal)

Where Musical Journeys Begin.

Our music programs strike the perfect balance between passion and performance. Students study under accomplished instructors, developing skills that range from concert performance to sound production while exploring the full spectrum of instrumental and vocal music.

Music in SCPPS

From Pre-K through 12th grade, all St. Charles Parish Public Schools students receive Music as part of their general education. Students who demonstrate a deeper interest in music have the opportunity to grow as instrumentalists and vocalists through the Talented Music program, as well as through their school’s Choir and Band offerings.

Choir and Band students across the district may also audition for regional and state adjudicated festivals and ensembles, including LMEA District VII, LA-ACDA, Parish Honor Band, Parish Honor Choir, and other selective performance opportunities.

Music at Lafon

The Lafon Arts Center serves as a central hub for music performances across the parish. Choir, Band, and general music concerts from all school sites are regularly hosted on the Shell Stage and in the Black Box.

Lafon also hosts numerous regional and statewide festivals and concerts each year. These include Parish Honor Band and Choir Concerts, LMEA District VII Honor Band and Choir, and the annual concert for the highly selective Louisiana American Choir Directors Association conference.

From early musical exploration to advanced ensemble work, students experience performance at a professional level in a space designed to elevate their artistry.
