Letter from our Director

Ned Moore, Director, Lafon Arts Center

Ned MooreTo Our Community,

It is with great pride and anticipation that I welcome you to the 2025–2026 Season at the Lafon Arts Center, a season shaped by a powerful idea.

ART IS A BRIDGE.

Between generations. Between cultures. Between perspectives.

This season, we’re introducing a new program model designed to deepen connections across our parish and beyond. Programming will now be organized into three unique series, each celebrating the ways art brings us together:

  • MAIN STAGE SERIES: A lineup of 10 national and international touring artists, showcasing world-class performances right here in St. Charles Parish.
  • COMMUNITY SERIES: Six special events and performances by local artists and arts organizations, celebrating the talent in our own backyard.
  • SCHOOL SERIES: Over 50 performances by St. Charles Parish Public School students, uplifting the next generation of artists.

Our goal is simple yet powerful: to host meaningful, memorable encounters between professional artists, students, educators, and families.

This year, St. Charles Parish Public Schools students will have the opportunities to work and perform alongside touring professional artists—a transformational experience that reflects the Lafon Arts Center’s mission to engage in the creation and appreciation of the arts with artists from around the corner to around the globe.

The Lafon Arts Center is the only facility where students from every school in the parish come together under one roof. It’s a space where young people don’t just witness the arts—they participate in creating them, forming bonds that transcend school boundaries.

Through our Artsperience Program, we ensure that over 7,000 SCPPS students experience free professional performing arts events during the school day—at no cost to families. This commitment reflects our belief that every child deserves access to the transformative power of the arts.

You Can Help Us Build This Bridge.

As we enter this exciting new season, we invite you to show your support:

  • Attend our performances. Your ticket purchase makes it possible for thousands of public school students to experience high quality arts programs at no cost.
  • Volunteer your time. Become an ambassador of our mission by volunteering at our events.
  • Become a member. When you join the Friends of the Lafon program, you help us sustain Dr. Lafon’s legacy of openheartedness and generosity in our community.
  • Spread the word. Let others know about the work we’re doing in St. Charles Parish to lead the way in arts education.

Art is a bridge between people, between places, between ideas.

When we gather in spaces like this, when we share stories through music, movement, and theater, we grow stronger together. We can’t wait to see you at the Center.

With Gratitude,
Ned Moore
