Steve Gilliland

Steve Gilliland is an award winning sound designer, composer, musician and technical director. He is a member of the theater ensembles Goat in the Road Productions and Intramural Theater, and has collaborated with companies including Tulane Shakespeare Festival, Artspot Productions, Le Petit Theatre, and No Dream Deferred.

Gilliland recently received a 2025 Crescent City Theater Award for Best Sound Design on The Lehman Trilogy (Le Petit Theatre) He served as lead sound designer, composer, and audio engineer for The Audio Experience at the Walter Anderson Museum of Art, which uses ambisonic and binaural field recordings, original compositions, and interviews to create an immersive sonic experience for visitors. He has created audio installations for the Contemporary Arts Center New Orleans, and has created sound design and original compositions for podcasts, espace rooms and video installations.

He is a Technical Coordinator at Lafon Performing Arts Center and Technical Director at the New Orleans Contemporary Arts Center. Gilliland creates mixed-media visual art incorporating circuit boards, doll parts, and recycled electronic components, and releases original music under the name GillaWatts.
