Mitchell Conroy “Mitch”

Technical Director

Mitch Conroy is one of the two Technical Directors at the Lafon Arts Center, where he oversees all backstage operations and ensures every performance runs seamlessly. With nearly 20 years of experience in the live entertainment industry — including six years here with the Lafon — he has worked on everything from rock concerts and national tours to Community Theater productions.

Before relocating to New Orleans from Philadelphia, Mitch served as Resident Audio Designer and Assistant Technical Director at the Broadway Theatre of Pitman, where he was part of the team that restored the historic venue in 2006. His career highlights include working as an up rigger and audio engineer at the Sun Bank Center in Trenton, NJ, and mixing concerts for artists such as Cheap Trick, Taylor Hicks, and Blue Oyster Cult, as well as major events like Miss America in Atlantic City.

Mitch specializes in audio engineering and rigging, emphasizing safety both onstage and behind the scenes. He is first aid and trauma-response trained and is experienced in managing technical crews ranging from three to thirty members.

Outside the theater, he enjoys solo sports, working on cars, and even performed as a professional magician — skills that reflect the precision, focus, and creativity he brings to every production.
