Lafon Arts Center has adopted the following discipline plan for all programs. We approach discipline in a serious, yet positive manner. In the event that a young artist exhibits inappropriate or negative behavior, the staff shall speak to them, and enlist their help in solving the immediate problem. The following discipline procedures and program rules will be discussed with your young artist the first day of the program and posted for future reference. FAMILIES please make sure that you discuss the discipline policy with your young artist.
Those violations that relate to behavior and do not endanger the safety of themselves or others.
Examples but not limited to: Use of cell phone, inappropriate dress or language, constant distracting behavior.
* Minor violations will be handled by a series of verbal warnings, discussions with the young artist on how to remedy the actions taken, and when necessary, a short time-out from a given activity.
Constant repetition of minor offenses will be documented and brought to the attention of the family, and to the administration, when necessary.
Those violations that endanger the emotional or physical well-being of the artist themselves, other artist, or staff members.
Examples but not limited to: Pushing, shoving, hitting, threatening to fight, fighting, throwing objects, threatening language, bullying, or going into unsupervised areas.
* 1st Major Offense – Artist is immediately brought to administration and a discipline file is created by program administrators with a follow up call to parents.
* 2nd Major Offense – Families are contacted and the artist is put on probation which may result in a one day suspension or other strong consequences.
* 3rd Major Offense - Families are contacted and serious consequences will result, including the possibility of being dismissed from the program without refund.
IMMEDIATE DISMISSAL: Some violations may require immediate dismissal. They will be up to the discretion of the Lafon Arts Center. Families will be notified immediately.
Please check below that you and your young artist have read and understand the discipline policy as stated above.
