DESCRIPTION:Join us for a screening of Casablanca (1943\, PG\,102 minutes) in conjunction with Americans and the Holocaust: A Traveling Exhibition for Libraries. \nA cynical American expatriate struggles to decide whether or not he should help his former lover and her fugitive husband escape French Morocco. \nThe program will be in the Black Box Theater. A discussion will follow the film screening. \nAmericans and the Holocaust: A Traveling Exhibition for Libraries is made possible by the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum and the American Library Association. \nThis exhibition was made possible by the generous support of lead sponsor Jeannie & Jonathan Lavine. SUMMARY:District VII Honor Band Concert
DESCRIPTION:The District VII Band Directors Association proudly presents its 2026 Senior High\, Junior High\, and All Youth Honor Bands. The event will take place on Saturday\, January 10\, at 1:00 PM\, with doors opening at 12:00 PM. \nDistrict VII is a division of the Louisiana Music Educators Association (LMEA) and encompasses the parishes of Assumption\, Lafourche\, St. Charles\, St. John\, St. Mary\, Terrebonne\, and parts of Ascension and St. James. Each honor band features approximately 90–100 students from schools across the district. \nThe ensembles will be led by distinguished clinicians from across the country. \nSenior High will be conducted by Dr. David Campo\, Professor Emeritus and former Director of Bands at Stephen F. Austin State University\, as well as a widely recognized composer with commissions spanning middle school\, high school\, university\, and professional ensembles. \nThe Junior High ensemble will be led by Mr. Blake Bogan\, our District VII Band Director of the Year and the current Director of Bands at Raceland Middle and Elementary Schools\, where his ensembles consistently earn superior ratings. \nOur All Youth Ensemble will be conducted by Mrs. Kim Kessler\, Director of Bands at St. Clement of Rome in Metairie\, whose groups have also earned consistent superior ratings and numerous awards.

The Tony Award-winning book and score are both enchanting and touching. \nThe story follows a Baker and his wife\, who wish to have a child; Cinderella\, who wishes to attend the King’s Festival; and Jack\, who wishes his cow would give milk. When the Baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of a Witch’s curse\, the two set off on a journey to break the curse. DESCRIPTION:The District VII Honor Choir brings together the region’s most outstanding student vocalists for an inspiring evening of choral music. Selected through a rigorous audition process\, singers from Ascension (West)\, Assumption\, Lafourche\, St. Charles\, St. James (West)\, St. John\, St. Mary\, and Terrebonne parishes represent the highest level of musicianship in our three featured ensembles: elementary\, middle school\, and high school. Under the direction of esteemed guest conductors\, this performance will truly showcase the power of the choral voice. \nDoors open at 11:45am.
